4th of October was the Feast day of St Francis of Assisi. He is a man, for those who do not know him, that left everything, which allowed him to possess everything. A free man he was. A man who loved the birds and the chipmunks as much as he loved everybody, saint or sinner. He was a courageous man who dared and challenge himself to live life to the fullest, and boy did he live a more fulfilling life than he could ever have dreamed during his salad days.

It was a day of celebration and what a priviledge it was for us to be able to cook for all the Franciscan Friars, together with their “cousins” the dominicans, and the canossian sisters on a beautiful thursday evening at St.Anthony’s Friary at the parish church of St.Mary’s of the Angels. It was truly a most blessed evening with song, laughter and joy filling the crisp air  of the beautiful friary.

Prayer of St Francis

Lord make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred,
Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood,as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
